Numerical Analysis of Stochastic PDEs TU Bergakademie Freiberg (DE) This is the fourth of a series of annual two-day workshops on the numerical treatment of stochastic partial differential equations held previously in Manchester (2007), Zürich (2008) and Edinburgh (2009). The workshop addresses researchers from numerical analysis and stochastics as well as applications in science and engineering.

Workshop on Compressed Sensing, Sparsity and Inverse Problems TU Braunschweig (DE) When retrieving information from given data, one crucial point is the choice of an adequate data model. One model that stands out as quite simple yet very important is the model which is based on sparse description of the data. This model has attracted huge interest in the past decade resulting in many breakthroughs in several areas ranging from pure and applied mathematics to computational sciences as well as many applications.

Workshop on Nonlinear Approximation Philipps-Universität Marburg (DE) The aim of this workshop is to provide an overview on recent developments in nonlinear approximation. Nonlinear approximation theory is a fast growing research area with many important applications such as adaptive numerical schemes for operator equations, image/signal compression and many others. Within this workshop, these relationships will be discussed and the connections to other mathematical fields such as the theory of function spaces will be highlighted.
