Workshop on Nonlinear Approximation
May 27-28, 2010
Philipps-University, Marburg

TOPICS

This workshop is part of the Priority Program 1324 of the German Research Foundation (DFG), see http://www.dfg-spp1324.de.

The aim of this workshop is to provide an overview on recent developments in nonlinear approximation. Nonlinear approximation theory is a fast growing research area with many important applications such as adaptive numerical schemes for operator equations, image/signal compression and many others. Within this workshop, these relationships will be discussed and the connections to other mathematical fields such as the theory of function spaces will be highlighted.

The following experts have agreed to give plenary talks:

This workshop is addressed to postdocs and PhD students within DFG-SPP 1324, but also the senior researchers within SPP 1324 who are interested in nonlinear approximation theory are invited to attend the workshop! Moreover, PhD students and colleagues who are not members of SPP 1324 but want to learn more about this fascinating topic are explicitely invited and warmly welcomed!
